Mini facelift

For some patients a full facelift is not necessary. If you are just beginning to show signs of aging with minimal jowling and excess skin in your neck, a mini facelift might be right for you. With less extensive surgery your healing time will be faster, there will be less bruising and less down time. A mini facelift can also be done with less anesthetic and less cost. Hand Surgery

At BCRSC we offer the latest in hand surgery, including endoscopic carpal tunnel release, and other minimally invasive techniques. Our surgeons treat a wide variety of hand problems ranging from Dupuytren’s contracture to trigger fingers and ganglions. If necessary more complex hand reconstructions may require an inpatient stay at one of local hospitals.

Skin Cancer Surgery

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the world  today. At BCRSC we provide both skin cancer screening and surgical and non-surgical treatments. We have an on-site frozen section pathology laboratory to analyze the cancer specimens during surgery. For  appropriate skin cancers, this frozen section technology allows us to safely remove skin cancers and take as little normal tissue as possible to leave the smallest possible scar. For other less aggresive forms, such as precancers (actinic keratosis), we offer photo dynamic therapy, a non-surgical alternative to treat large areas of the body. Our surgeons will also utilize the local hospitals if the cancer treatment requires sentinal node biopsy or an overnight stay. read the blog on Moh’s surgery here:http://berkshirecosmeticsurg.com/skin-cancer-on-my-face-i-want-mohs-or-do-i/

Botox®

Botox  temporarily interrupts the communication between nerves and muscles, allowing lines caused by muscle action to fade away. Worry lines, crows feet, forehead wrinkles and neck bands  are all lines caused by muscles that can be treated with Botox. Botox can also be used to treat pathologic sweating.

Injectable fillers

Injectable fillers are used to compensate for the natural loss of subcutaneous facial fat that accompanies aging. At BCRSC we offer several fillers including Restylane@, Juvaderm@ and Radiesse@. We determine which filler to use based on your particular needs and desires. Fillers can be used to treat deep lines around the mouth, loss of volume in the cheeks, scars and skin and soft tissue defects. Liposuction

In today’s world, looking and feeling good mean having a fit, well-proportioned body. However, for many people, this may seem like an unreachable goal. Sometimes even a strict diet or a disciplined exercise program can’t conquer stubborn areas of excess fat. For those who seek a smoother or better- proportioned body contour, liposuction may be the answer. Liposuction, also called lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess deposits of fat from specific areas of the body, face or neck. Liposuction can be used to slim the hips and thighs, flatten the abdomen, shape the calves and ankles or eliminate a double chin. Liposuction is performed by one or more small incisions near the area to be suctioned, a small, hollow tube is placed so that the tip penetrates the underlying fat and the fat is then vacuumed into the tube. Surgery of the Abdomen

A flat stomach is important to a physically fit appearance. However, a healthy diet and regular abdominal workouts can sometimes do little to eliminate accumulations of excess fat and loose, sagging skin in the abdominal area. If you are bothered by these appearance problems, abdominoplasty (also called tummy tuck) may be a good choice for you. Abdominoplasty is designed to firm and smooth the abdomen. This cosmetic surgery removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and may also tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The result is a flatter, tighter abdominal profile. Breast Lift

Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, nursing and the force of gravity take their toll on a woman’s breasts. As the skin loses elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts (at least for a time). Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume – for example, after pregnancy – breast implants inserted in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their size and firmness. Incisions are made and skin formerly located above the nipple is brought down and together to reshape the breast. Sutures close the incisions, giving the breast its new contour. After surgery, the breasts are higher and firmer. Find out if you need a breast lift here: http://berkshirecosmeticsurg.com/breast-lift-do-you-need-it/. Breast Augmentation

If you often wish that your breasts were larger, fuller or more shapely, breast augmentation may be the right choice for you. Breast augmentation (also called augmentation mammoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure that uses implants to enlarge and shape breasts. Your new look will bring you greater freedom with fashion and may give your self image a boost as well. Incisions are made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible, either underneath the breast just above the crease, around the areola or in the armpit. The breast implant is placed either underneath the chest wall muscle or directly behind the breast tissue. Breast Reconstruction

There are many treatments available for breast cancer treatment and reconstruction. Immediate and delayed reconstructions, using your own bodies tissues or implants, for complete or partial mastectomies are all performed either on site or at local hospitals. Oncoplastic techniques where the cancer is removed with breast reduction type surgery is the newest breast conserving cancer surgery and is an excellent option for larger breast women.

Surgery of the Ear

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is usually done to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. For the most part, the operation is done on children between the ages of 4 and 14. Ears are almost fully grown by the age of 4, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule the child will have to endure. Ear surgery on adults is also possible and there are generally no additional risks associated with ear surgery on an older patient. Generally a small incision is made in the back of the ear to expose the ear cartilage. This cartilage is then resculpted and bent back towards the head.

Surgery of the Nose

An attractive nose is simply a nose that fits your face. It is a natural-looking nose that achieves a harmonious balance with your other facial features. If you feel that your nose is not a good fit, you may benefit from cosmetic surgery of the nose, also called rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty can enhance the shape, size and general appearance of your nose. After surgery, the patient has a straighter bridge, a well defined nasal tip and an improved angle between the nose and upper lip. Rhinoplasty can correct a nasal tip that droops, a bump on the nasal bridge, and other attributes that may make someone feel their nose is unattractive.

Eyelid Surgery

If you believe that your eyes are making you look tired, sad or older than you really feel, cosmetic eyelid surgery (also called blepharoplasty) may be the right choice for you. Eyelid surgery can remove the excess fat and drooping skin of the upper eyelids, minimize bags under the eyes and tighten the lower eyelid skin. The result a more alert and rested appearance. Typically incisions are made following your eye’s natural lines and creases and will be well-camouflaged when healed. Excess fat is removed or redistributed. After surgery, eyelids no longer droop and the skin under the eyes is smooth and firm. Read about upper eyelids here http://berkshirecosmeticsurg.com/the-eyes-have-it-uppers-are-so-easy/.

Facelift

Also known as a rhytidectomy, a facelift smoothes the skin on your face and neck, tightens underlying tissues and removes excess fat. As a result, your face will appear firmer and fresher. Incisions are made above the hairline at the temples and follow the natural line in front of the ear, curve behind the earlobe into the crease behind the ear, and into or along the scalp. Facial, neck tissue and muscle may be trimmed or suctioned and underlying muscle may be tightened. After deep tissues are tightened, the excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and sutured into place.

Forehead Lift

A forehead lift or “browlift” is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired. In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. Your surgeon may use the conventional surgical method, in which the incision is hidden just behind the hairline; or the surgery may be performed with the use of an endoscope, a viewing instrument that allows the procedure to be performed with minimal incisions. Both techniques yield similar results – smoother forehead skin and a more animated appearance.

Laser Resurfacing

In laser resurfacing, sometimes called “laser peel,” a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is used to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The procedure is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and the eyes. However, it is also effective in treating facial scars or areas of uneven pigmentation. Laser resurfacing may be performed on the whole face or in specific regions. Often, the procedure is done in conjunction with another cosmetic operation, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery. In general, the more aggressive the resurfacing procedure is, the more prolonged the recovery is likely to be.
